Now, imagine your health being damaged by stressors and unhealthy lifestyles.

Rebuidling your health is similar to the processes by you would rebuild your house. Healing is a gradual process with many different steps. Although there is an overwhelming amount of healing lifestyle changes out there, they all fall into one or more of these steps:

  1. Prepare yourself mentally
  2. Take a time-out from toxins
  3. Add high quality building blocks
  4. Send healing signals to brain and body
  5. Allow recovery time

Most interventions you hear in the news will work for some people some of the time but not everyone all the time. Successful interventions will be placed in the context of what damage has been done to a person’s health and what other interventions is the person doing now.

There have been many changes in our environment and medical system that are going against you. Learn how to get your body on a more natural path using these five categories of interventions.

1: Prepare Yourself Mentally

Even after knowing the history of poor health in the country, you still need to develop mental tools to move forward. Healing has to start from within, and we have to acknowledge why we want to be healthier. This is the goal that we can think about when we’re tempted to do something that would create health setbacks. We can consider whether the temptation would be worth derailing our goals.

After we go through each category and make changes to our lifestyle, we should revisit this purpose and pause and reflect on our progress to see which measures had the biggest impact. We can build on those successes by making additional changes in each category.

Taking a small break or “cheating” is not the end of the world! It’s what will help you learn more about yourself and your body. Come back to this point and start anew! Healing is never a straight line.

2: Take a Time-Out from Toxins

Unfortunately, we live in a sea of artificial pollutants that our bodies were not designed to handle. Some we can’t avoid, but there are many that we can minimize or even eliminate, especially when it comes to the food we eat. Toxins, especially those in food, can destroy any health progress you make. There are many ways to minimize the intake of toxins, many of which can also save you money.

3: Add High Quality Building Blocks

We have been told for almost 100 years that food is only good for energy ("Calories"). However, food is critical for repairing our bodies and creating important internal chemicals, such as neurotransmitters and hormones. When we provide our bodies with high quality food, we are giving it all the building blocks it needs.

4: Send Healing Signals to Brain & Body

Although we may not realize it, we are in constant communication with our bodies and minds. What are we saying? Are we telling them to do something outside of an optimal time frame? Are we pushing them too hard or not enough? This is where the saying "Use it or lose it" comes in. If we signal that we don’t need something, the body will let it atrophy so that it can build up other pieces we do need. The body and brain need signals so that they know what to do with the building blocks you’ve provided them.

5: Allow Recovery Time

Everyone who has started an exercise program knows that they need to recover fully before the next exercise session. There are many other ways in which we can allow our bodies the chance to heal up and recover. Of course, this cannot be done while the body is overloaded with toxins, are not getting the building blocks, and are getting weak signals.
