Advocacy: Seeking Systemic Change in Metabolic Health

Why Advocacy Matters

Healthcare is more than treatment; it's about prevention, education, and empowerment. My advocacy work aims to:

Healing Institutions

Signs

Chronic disease, poor nutrition, and mental health struggles are widespread in correctional facilities, yet nutrition and metabolic health remain largely overlooked. Healing Institutions, our sister non-profit, is dedicated to bringing metabolic interventions to prisons, offering a science-based approach to improving physical and mental well-being for those in the justice system.

Studies show that poor diet contributes to chronic disease, cognitive decline, and behavioral instability - issues that are disproportionately high among incarcerated populations. By implementing nutrient-dense, low-processed food options and evidence-based lifestyle interventions, we can:

Our Approach

Healing Institutions focuses on research, advocacy, and direct implementation to drive change in correctional nutrition policies and wellness programs. Our initiatives include:

Join the Movement

We believe that everyone deserves access to real food and metabolic health education, regardless of their circumstances. If you're interested in supporting our mission, visit Healing Institutions.

Metabolic Revolution

Volunteering

In addition to coaching and teaching, I am an active advocate for metabolic health through my work with Metabolic Revolution, an ally organization. We are an organization dedicated to ensuring that the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans are based in science, not in special interests.

I served as the volunteer coordinator for our last rally in Washington, DC, where we pushed for evidence-based changes to national dietary guidelines. I also contribute as a social media writer and on the school lunch program committee to remove ultra-processed foods from schools and ensure kids have access to real, nourishing meals.

Join the Metabolic Revolution

If you're passionate about changing the way we approach nutrition, advocating for real food in schools, or pushing for science-based health policies, consider joining us at Metabolic Revolution.

Doctors Registered in Maryland

As a health coach, I believe that doctors and psychiatrists will have better results for their patients when they partner with health coaches. How many times have doctors told their patients, "Eat less and move more," and have then been disappointed that their patients cannot follow those directions? This is where health coaches can help! When doctors believe that their patients can benefit from lifestyle changes, the doctors, patients, and coaches can form a care team. Doctors direct the care and coaches and patients make it happen.

If you are a doctor or psychiatrist and are interested in learning more about how lifestyle changes can help your patients, please feel free to contact me. I would love to chat!

Health Coaching Community

I truly believe that we're stronger together in this work. Throughout my practice, I've been fortunate to collaborate with amazing coaches on workshops, client support, and community events focused on metabolic health. These partnerships have not only enriched my approach but have created more comprehensive support systems for our clients. From co-hosting talks on intuitive eating to providing backup support for colleagues' programs, these collaborative experiences remind me why I love being part of this community.

If you're a fellow coach with similar values around kind, empowering approaches to health, I'd love to connect. This journey is so much more rewarding when we share it with like-minded professionals who understand that taking care of ourselves and our community is the ultimate expression of kindness.
